Impressive stand that's almost entirely metal except for the ball socket and tightening nut on the back of the magnetic plate. Overall feels very solid and each joint can be tightened down with a hex screw...it comes fairly rigid and difficult to adjust, so it's easier to loosen the hex nuts a bit, but seems like it will hold firm once you get it adjusted and should hold up well in a car ride. It does seem to work well with the MagSafe case on my iPhone 14 Pro, but also includes a couple metal plates that can be added to your device as well as an extra mounting sticker for the arm.
